What is a Pork Share?

Pork shares are a cost-effective way of filling your freezer by buying pork in bulk directly from the farmer growing it. By purchasing a share, you pay upfront and help offset the cost of raising the pig. In return you get to customize the cuts of pork that you want.

The difference between buying a share of meat and buying in bulk is that you don’t know the exact weight of the pig and the exact day you will get it. The farmer shares that variability with the consumer. Each pig grows differently, and they might not be “ready” at the same time.

Why Buy a Pork Share?

Buying a pork share is the most affordable and direct way to purchase local pasture raised meat. Individual cuts of pasture-raised pork can be more expensive due to the legal framework that prevents a farmer from selling directly to consumers. Pork Shares are the solution to that. When you purchase a half or whole pig from us, fill your freezer with high-quality meat that you know how it was raised.

Our Pigs

We raised heritage breed pigs that are known for their flavor. Our pigs are raised on pasture with room to roam and forage. On pasture, they can express their natural instincts and root around for bugs, grubs, roots, tubers, berries and legumes. Their primary diet consists of things found on pasture, but we still supplement with grain and corn. We also feed them kitchen prep food scraps from a local restaurant. We rotate and rest their pastures, ensuring the land is regenerated for future use.

Why Us?

Our growing practices maximize flavor and nutrients that is unmatched to grocery store pork. We want full transparency with our customers. We are offering a farm tour this summer to our pork share members called “Meet your Meat”. We will invite you to the farm to see exactly how we raise pork for your plate.

Pricing

We charge $6 per lb. of hanging weight + butcher fees. You pay the butcher fees, directly to the butcher. Butcher fees can range anywhere from $1 to $2 a pound, depending on how labor-intensive your cut sheet is. Hanging weight is the weight of the pig after the internal organs are removed.  You take home about 80% of packaged pork from the total hanging weight. Pricing by hanging weight is the industry standard.

What You Get

A half share will supply you with about 50-60 lbs. of pork. A whole share will supply you with about 100-120 lbs. of pork. This is variable depending on the size of the animal because each pig is different. Our pigs will reach market weight in September or October of this year, 2026. The butcher takes about 3 to 4 weeks to process from drop off.
