About Us
Hi there! We’re Jake and Emily. We were both born and raised in South Jersey. Not long after we met, we embarked on a new adventure and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Jake pursued a career as an electrician, while Emily continued her education at UNC Charlotte for environmental science.
After getting married and having two children, we decided to return to South Jersey to be closer to family and start our homesteading adventure. We purchased 14 acres of land that has been in Emily’s family for over a hundred years.
Our homesteading dream began when we were newlyweds living in a small apartment in North Carolina. Juggling school and work left us with tight finances, making ultra-processed food convenient and cheap. Due to unresolved health issues from the Standard American Diet, we learned the hard way that our health is more related to the food we ate than we thought. This new perspective inspired us to explore the origins of our food—how it’s grown, harvested, and processed. This journey transformed our understanding of food and guided us towards a lifestyle of wholesome and traditional living, which we embraced in raising our children
Fast forward a few years and what started as a dream has come to life. The land we purchased has sustained four generations before us, and we’re honored to continue that legacy. We’re currently self-building our post-frame home here on the farm, often referred to as a pole barn or “barndominium.”
Once our home is complete, we plan to transform this land—previously farmed using conventional methods—into rotational regenerative pastures and gardens.
By prioritizing soil health, we aim to grow higher-quality meat and produce that’s not sold in local grocery stores. Ultimately, we hope to scale our garden and livestock operations to support a community of CSA members and host local markets and events on a weekly and seasonal basis.
